A note from Sonia
I am a Life-cycle Celebrant because I believe in celebrating the important choices and events in our lives that transform us in some way. Big decisions and successes deserve to be enacted in a mindful and special way. One way is through a ceremony that is carefully crafted to recognize, praise, appreciate and honour significant accomplishments. I create and preside at such ceremonies.
I believe in recognizing and revering the sacred – in pausing to acknowledge it and appreciate it. By “sacred” I mean that which touches us deeply and inspires awe. A commitment to share one's life with another in an intimate relationship of love and respect may be considered a sacred one. With each wedding and commitment ceremony I create, I attend to what the couple holds sacred.
Marriage changes us and shifts our relationship with family and community. Ceremony can mark or herald this transition and provide a way for family and community to be part of it.
Rituals and symbolic elements in a memorable wedding, commitment or vow renewal ceremony remain in our consciousness and bolster us emotionally and spiritually for a long time, as life’s challenges arise.
I love nature and its power to remove us from the aspects of life that reduce our capacity to be present and mindful. I am therefore happy to perform ceremonies in your preferred, non-traditional natural setting. I also love children and teens, so will happily engage them in ceremonies.
I am trained and experienced in ceremony traditions and the art of designing individually unique and culturally relevant ceremonies, not only for marriage and life partner commitments, but also for family events, significant life events and transitions, healing, end of life, remembrances, and the workplace. As a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® I am committed to professional standards set by the Celebrant Foundation & Institute.
With the mix of values, experience and skills born of my evolution from a professional social worker, therapist, health service leader and successful parent to my current role as marriage officiant and life-cycle celebrant, you may count on my complete attention to who you are, my perseverance to discover and deliver what is right for your ceremony, and my presence to bear witness to the profound promise you will make.

Sonia Beverley (MSW) is a Life-cycle Celebrant trained and certified by the Celebrant Foundation & Institute, New Jersey. Her celebrancy business is a second career built on 40 successful years as a chief executive, business leader, social entrepreneur and advocate for innovation in health care and the not-for-profit sector. She has long been an agent of change for individuals, families, companies and social systems – and now focuses on celebrating their life transitions and significant accomplishments through Ceremonies by Sonia Beverley. Operating as County Weddings, Sonia custom designs and officiates weddings in Ontario's Prince Edward County and vicinity during the summer months.
